Alain Verschueren
Alain Verschueren has close to 40 years of professional experience across many areas of banking and finance.
He began his career at Venture Capital (VIV) and later served in various coverage and sales management positions at Generale Bank and Fortis covering corporates (serving as head of corporate at Generale Bank New York), retail and SMEs (at Generale Bank and Fortis Brussels).
He was then appointed global head of FIG trade finance and CEEMEA at Fortis.
Following the acquisition by BNP Paribas, he became deputy global head of the transaction banking group before moving to Paris as head of salesand& market intelligence correspondent banking.
Alain then moved to the Trade Finance Competence Center of BNP Paribas as head of innovation and DLT trade finance (Paris and Brussels based), where he co-initiated and participated in several new trade finance and supply chain financing market initiatives in consortia with banks, clients and fintechs. He was also involved in some ESG initiatives.
He served on several boards and represented the bank at BAFT for over a decade, actively engaging in many committees.
Alain graduated in Law in Leuven (KUL) and Economic Law in Louvain-la-Neuve (UCL).
