David Bischof
David is an experienced international consultant with expertise in financial sector development, focusing on trade digitalisation, trade finance and sustainable finance.
David works with a wide range of public and private sector stakeholders, particularly banks, multilaterals and DFIs, to better align the financial system with global climate and development goals and to accelerate innovative market-based solutions to development challenges. As a consultant to the German government agency GIZ, he advised on digital financial payments, access to finance and green finance projects in Tunisia, Morocco and Senegal.
Additionally, David serves as head of ESG consulting to Equintel, a Swiss-German startup developing an AI-powered system to help corporate clients and investors assess and advise on ESG issues.
In his previous role as Deputy Director of the Banking Commission of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), David led the strategic development of the Banking Commission to become the leading global body with 600 banks from over 100 countries.
During his tenure at the ICC, he oversaw the initial implementation of the ICC's Digital Trade Standards Initiative (DSI) and established and managed the ICC Trade Register, a critical trade credit risk monitoring tool used by 25 global banks representing 80% of the industry.
David also co-founded and co-led the Asian Pacific Financial Forum (APFF) Digital Trade Finance Lab, a think and do tank to accelerate the digitalisation in the APEC region mandated by the APEC Finance Ministers.
