Onyebuchi Memeh is a highly accomplished Trade & Working Capital Finance expert and a Transaction Banking Business leader with over 25 years of experience in Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Banking. He has a strong record of success in the African Market having assisted major corporations in Telecoms, FMCG, Oil & Gas, Commodities & Agriculture as well as SMEs, Government and Financial institutions to address their banking needs across the world.
He was most recently the Head of Trade & Working Capital Finance for South Africa & Southern Africa in Standard Chartered Bank and prior to that was the Head of Trade Products for Africa in the same organization. His contributions include the successful launch and commercialisation of pivotal trade finance solutions such as Factoring, Supply Chain Finance and Structured Commodity Trade & Agriculture Financing across critical markets in Africa. He has also worked for other notable financing institutions such as Citibank and Oceanic Bank Plc (Now Ecobank) in various leadership, Sales, operations, client services and product management positions.
Memeh is versed in all facets of Trade and Working Capital Financing and has garnered considerable experience in credit risk, fraud risk and market regulatory issues affecting the Trade Finance Industry. Indeed, through his work and extensive market advocacy efforts, he has demonstrated a commitment to facilitating best practices in areas such as Documentary and Open account trade, Factoring, Supply Chain Finance, Trade Digitalisation and in promoting a sustainable future for Africa
Memeh holds a first class honours degree in Physics and an MBA degree obtained from the University of Leeds Business School in the United Kingdom. He is a 2004 Chevening Scholar and regularly speaks at Trade Conferences in the continent. He has also contributed numerous articles on Trade and Supply Chain Finance in global and local publications over the years.
