Saqib Mustafa
Saqib’s professional experience straddles corporate/transaction banking, fintech, risk and private credit with domain expertise in structured trade, Asset Backed Securitization (including trade finance assets), investments, trade digitization and operational processes. He has held leadership roles at Standard Chartered and Banco Santander and delivered key products in the core markets of UK/EMEA, LATAM and SE Asia.
In his most recent role, Saqib has been involved in the successful launch of private credit strategy aimed at B2B fintech lending platforms. He leads the investment strategy efforts with responsibility for due diligence focusing on risk decisioning engine, ABS structuring, system architecture and credit control policy.
At Santander, Saqib was instrumental in the conceptualization and successful rollout of trade and working capital products including an innovative insurance backed structured receivables solution which enhanced wallet share. In addition, Saqib also led transformation initiatives to digitize transaction processing and vastly improve UX from an operational perspective.
Saqib was part of the initial management team at Traydstream, a fintech which uses cutting edge AI and OCR technology that digitises and extracts structured and unstructured data from trade finance documents.
At Standard Chartered, Saqib was the key subject matter expert for trade asset securitization programs and developed a robust product execution approach.
Saqib is a graduate of Clark University, USA, and Cranfield University School of Management, UK. He is a frequent guest speaker at industry forums and is a trustee of a performing arts charity in London.
